Hard Reset
In order to factory-reset a device that has been locked down, you can either do it by getting access to the device settings from within the App, or you can hard-reset the device using a magic key combination.
From within the App
Assuming the Sensational App is running:

- Go to the settings screen
- Double tap the version number of the app to cause the hidden config menu to appear. You will see three dots in the top right of the navigation bar.
- Open the menu and select "Device settings".
- Enter the password as requested. If you do not have the required maintenance password please contact support@sensational.ch.
- In the System settings scroll nearly all the way down and select "Backup & Reset > Factory Reset > Phone Reset".

- Press and hold the “scan”-key on the left side of the device.
- Press and release the “volume up” key.
- Release the “scan”-key.
- A "settings and debug"-screen will appear.
- Select “Reset”.
- A new popup will appear asking for a password.
- Enter the temporary password visible in the "Scanner Administration"-panel in the Administration Section of your Portal (screenshot below) and confirm that you want to reset.

- Make sure the device is NOT connected to a charger but has more than 25% battery power left.
- If the device is on, press and hold the "power button" and chose "Power off".
- Wait for the device to power down completely.
- Now press and hold the power and "volume up" buttons at the same time until a screen with a broken Android Logo and the text "No Command" appears (on the way there, there will also be an Opticon logo, continue to hold the buttons through that). Once the screen appears, let go of all buttons.
- In the "No Command"-screen first press and hold power, then press volume up and release both quickly afterwards.
- You should now be in the recovery mode screen which presents a menu with several options. (sometimes this step needs a little bit of trial and error). The menu can be navigated by pressing the "volume up"- and "volume down"-buttons, while the power-button selects an option.
- Naviagte to and select "Wipe data/factory reset"
- Confirm resetting to factory settings by confirming.
- The device will wipe its data. Once done, the original recovery menu will reappear.
- Select "Reboot system now" to reboot.
Comment: If the device is not locked down, the screen described in step 4 will be skipped and booting with power and "volume up" will immediately get you to the recovery menu referenced in step 6, allowing you to skip step 5

- While pressing and holding "volume down", press the "power" button until the device vibrates, then release the "power" button.
- When the boot menu appears, release "volume down".
- Navigate the menu by pressing "volume up"/"volume down" to find the "Recovery mode" option.
- Select it by pressing the "power" button.
- The device will restart and show a screen with a broken Android logo and the text "No Command".
- On the "No Command" screen, first press and hold the "power" button, then press "volume up" and release both quickly afterwards.
- The recovery options screen will appear.
- Navigate through the options by using "volume up"/"volume down" buttons to go to "Wipe data/factory reset" and select it by pressing the "power" button.
- The confirmation screen will appear.
- Select "Factory reset" by pressing the "power" button.
- The device will be reset and a new menu screen will appear.
- Select "Reboot system now" by pressing the "power" button.
